A recent article in The Daily Telegraph reported that Judges in the U.K. are granting permission for lawyers to trawl through personal Facebook and Twitter accounts to look for evidence of hidden wealth during divorce proceedings.

Applications by lawyers for discovery of private information from individual’s Facebook and Twitter are now being permitted in the UK. Twitter’s official position in relation to the release of information is that it will only give out private information about its users to law enforcement agencies for a court order or subpoena has been provided.

Time will tell whether such trend takes off in Ireland.Watch this space!!
